Cambi Palace is a Gothic noble palace in the old core of Split. It leans against the northern part of the western wall of Diocletian's Palace, not far from the Iron Gate, and its western façade faces the People's Square, known as Pjaca. It will interest visitors who want to see what residential architecture in medieval Split looked like.
Construction was begun in the first half of the 15th century by the noble Cambi family. The building was created in the Gothic style, even before the master Juraj Dalmatinac arrived in the city, and it was extended in the second half of the same century, while he was staying in Split. The ground floor has two arched openings, and on the first floor, in the middle of the façade, stands a triforium with a Gothic arch and a crocket-shaped decoration, flanked on each side by a single mono-light window. The Gothic mono-light windows of the second floor are now walled up, and the small wrought-iron balcony on the third floor was added in the 19th century. Despite later alterations, this façade is considered the most complete and stylistically consistent among the Gothic palaces of Split from that period.
Cambi Palace is a protected cultural property and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5678.
