Near Viganj, a place on the Pelješac peninsula in the municipality of Orebić, in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, an ancient shipwreck known as Pod galija lies on the seabed. Beside Cape Sv. Ivan, the underwater cargo still testifies today to the trade in food and tableware in the Roman period.
The ship carried kitchenware from the Greek and Asia Minor sphere. A whole range of forms was found: pots, small pots, bowls, lids, plates, jugs, pans, grills and braziers. Research in 1971 and 1972 also covered part of the ship's wooden structure. On the basis of the finds, the wreck belongs to the end of the 1st and the first half of the 2nd century AD. The wreck with its cargo lies perpendicular to the shoreline and occupies an area of 30 x 15 m. The site has not been fully explored.
The wreck is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7265.
