Gogolin brijeg is a residential settlement in Zagreb, worth seeing for its carefully considered urban planning of 1927. A walk through it shows how people lived in the city between the wars in a harmoniously conceived whole.
The settlement was built in 1927 according to a design of the City Building Department, whose author was the architect Edo Miklosz Schreiner. The concept relies on a central rectangular green axis, framed by a row of horse chestnut trees. A group of tall rental buildings towards the edge streets is closed off by ground-floor structures, semi-detached houses and rows. Along Petrova there are two rows of broken plan, along Medovićeva and Kovačevićeva small semi-detached family houses, and along Filipovićeva a small ground-floor row with three flats. This urban concept, with orthogonally placed buildings of uniform expression, created a spatially complete whole.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1541.
