Ivinj is an archaeological site near Tisno in Šibenik-Knin County, and on it a Roman villa, an early church and a medieval small church follow one another in the same space. It is interesting to those who like layered history.
The church of St. Martin is single-nave, with a semicircular apse and a bell gable on the facade, and was built in the 12th or 13th century within a Roman villa rustica. The villa is a spacious economic and country-estate structure, built at the beginning of the 1st century AD and subsequently remodeled. Residential rooms, private baths, farm spaces, cisterns and drainage channels for water were identified in it. The western part of the villa in the 5th century was converted into an early Christian three-aisled basilica, with a baptistery and a smaller single-nave space with a pentagonal apse. Medieval graves were found around the church of St. Martin and over most of the former villa.
The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5703.
