The church of St. Anthony Abbot and the hospital beside it stand on the southwestern edge of Vodnjan, in Istria County. For visitors the complex is interesting because it combines Istrian Romanesque architecture, medieval frescoes and a building from 1888, all within a stone wall.
The church dates from the 13th century, with renovations and reconstructions in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is single-nave, rectangular, with a semicircular apse; the nave is covered with tiles and the apse with stone slabs. On the facade is a portal with a lintel decorated with a relief of three saints, stylized and rustic. At the top of the gable stands a bell gable with the year 1456 carved on it. Inside, remains of frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries are preserved. The hospital was built beside the church in 1888 with funds from the Cecon foundation, and the whole complex is surrounded by a stone wall two meters high.
The complex is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7320.
