On the southern edge of the peninsula in the town of Rab, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, stand the Benedictine monastery and the church of St. Andrew the Apostle from the 11th century. They are interesting to visitors for the early Renaissance portal and the old bell tower with a triforium.
The monastery was founded in the 11th century, and the church somewhat earlier, in the middle of that century. It is a three-aisled basilica with three semicircular apses. The first major reconstruction was in the 14th century. The facade is adorned with a lavish early Renaissance portal, and in 1765 the interior received a Baroque appearance. The bell tower from 1181 is a simple square prism with corner pilasters, which near the top turn into the three arches of a triple window. Below the triple windows, down to the level of the first floor, there is a row of four closely placed single windows.
A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1994.
