Church of the Holy Cross, Rab

The church of the Holy Cross stands in the town of Rab, on the southern tip of the peninsula, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is a modest building, and shows visitors how the island's small churches changed through the centuries.

As early as the 13th century there was a small church of the same name there, with a hospice of the Benedictines from the monastery of St. Peter in Draga; this guesthouse is mentioned in 1280. Its present appearance came about through reconstructions in the 16th and 18th centuries, and the works were completed in 1799. The single-nave interior consists of a front rectangular space and the sanctuary, raised by one step and separated by a balustrade. The facade is simple: a portal, a round window in the gable and two tall windows at the sides. The bell gable carries two bells.

The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2204.
