The canyon of Molinarska Draga and the hamlet of Podmaj, in the area of Opatija in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, stretch along the slopes of Učka. The zone is of interest to hikers and nature explorers because in a small space it combines a preserved landscape with a series of traces of the human past.
It contains the caves and shelters Mala peć, Ovčja peć, Sklepova peć, Svinjska peć and Rupe I and Rupe II, then the prehistoric hillfort Babin grob and the area of Maji-Podmaji. In this area are peaks that ritual processions climbed, and their veneration has Old Slavic roots. In Podmaj the ruins of former shepherds' dwellings can be seen. The sites have mostly been explored, and the objects found date from the Paleolithic up to late antiquity. Additional value is given to the zone by the rural and ethnographic heritage and the cultivated landscape, which is still kept in its original state.
The zone is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2729.
