Mala Učka is a settlement in the town of Opatija, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and a rural ensemble that shows how people once lived from water power. It is of interest to visitors who follow the traditional architecture of Istria and the Croatian Littoral from the 17th to the 20th century.
Until the end of the 19th century it was an important economic place, and its economy relied on mills and fulling mills along the stream. When that activity disappeared, Mala Učka became an intermediary point between Istria and the area along the Rječina. It lived on until the Second World War, in which it suffered badly. The buildings continue types that appear in Istria and the Littoral from roughly the 17th and 18th centuries: the house with a tornica and a developed round hearth, the courtyard, and the farm building with a square base and a gable roof, with gables raised on one or both sides and a roof covering of plant material.
A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5090.
