In the Polačine bay, not far from the village of Kraj on the island of Pašman in Zadar County, a huge ancient pier lies under the sea. For those interested in Roman maritime history, it is impressive evidence of trading activity on this part of the coast.

The structure begins on the southern side of the bay and lies under the sea at a depth of 2.5 meters. It was assembled from worked stone blocks. The farthest point is 120 meters from the land; near the shore the pier is 35 meters wide, and toward the end it narrows to only 6. Around it archaeologists record a rich cultural layer that formed from the 1st to the 4th century AD.

The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-38.

Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
