Benedictine Monastery with the Church of St Peter, Supetarska Draga

Supetarska Draga on the island of Rab, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, preserves the remains of a Benedictine monastery with the Church of St Peter. The complex lies in a valley and is interesting because it arose on ground with traces of the Roman and early Christian periods.

The monks settled here in the second half of the 11th century, and left the place in the 16th century. In the meantime the monastery was rebuilt several times. The church is an early Romanesque three-aisled basilica. Its portal has a triangular pediment, and each of the aisles is closed by a semicircular apse. On the bell tower a bell from 1299 has survived to this day.

The complex is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-144.
