In Brist, in the municipality of Gradac on the Makarska littoral, stands the church of St Margaret. A visitor can see in it how a demolished church left its mark on a more recent building, as well as the tomb slabs of an old family.
The church was built in 1751 on the site of an older one that was demolished. From the old one the apse with a Gothic vault remained, built into the new building. It is single-nave, with a rectangular apse, built of regularly hewn stone and covered with tiles on two slopes. The façade is articulated by an entrance framed with stone blocks with a profiled lintel and, on its axis, an oculus with a rosette. Built into the stone altar are two tomb slabs with inscriptions and coats of arms of the Kačić family, and a third lies in the floor in front of the altar. The church was renovated in 1986.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5060. It is located in Split-Dalmatia County.
