The parish church of St George the Martyr rises on the height of Orje in Žeževica, in the municipality of Šestanovac, in Split-Dalmatia County. Built on a medieval site, it dominates the view of the surrounding area, so it is a good destination for those who like panoramic points.
It is mentioned in 1739 by Archbishop Katić in his visitation, after which it was remodelled several times. The oldest part is the central part of the nave, of a single-nave building with a square apse from 1754; a semicircular apse was later added to the east. It is built of hewn stone in regular courses, and the original roofing has not been preserved; instead, ribbed sheet metal has recently been put on. A two-storey bell tower of the closed type with a simple loggia and a pyramidal top was added in front of the main entrance in 1935. Around the church is a cemetery with a stone fence, whose main entrance in the west is reached by stone steps from the 19th century.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5933.
