The church of St Michael is located in the Mala Banda area in Jelsa. Its special feature is votive drawings of ships and anchors, which speak of the maritime past of the place.
Originally it was Gothic, and in the Baroque period it was renovated. It is single-nave, with a pointed vault and a semicircular apse covered by a calotte. On the main façade are a Baroque portal and a square window, and in the gable a single masonry bell gable. The roof and apse are covered with stone slabs, and inside is a late Baroque masonry altar. On the old interior plaster an anchor and a consecration cross were drawn, and on the exterior a ship and a cross. At the end of the 20th century the church was renovated, the exterior plaster removed and the drawings conserved.
The church is a protected cultural good and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4646.
