In Stari Grad on the island of Hvar lie the remains of twin early Christian churches and a baptistery complex, interesting to all who follow the oldest layers of Christianity on the Adriatic. The site belongs to the town of Stari Grad in Split-Dalmatia County.
At the end of the 4th century the first early Christian church with an octagonal baptistery was built, and in the 6th century two churches arose side by side. The southern one is partly preserved, and a residential house was later built on its site; beside it the baptistery is presented as an archaeological site. The northern church is connected with the cult of a martyr, because the altar was placed over his relics, and it has reached our days in full volume as a single-nave vaulted building. The furnishings consisted of stone parts from Brač workshops, frescoes on the walls and mosaics in the floors by Salona masters.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6505.
