Above the village of Krug, on the high ridge of Mošnica near Jesenice in the municipality of Dugi Rat, stands the church of St Maximus. This is a place for those who love the old little churches of Poljica and a broad view from the hills.
It is already mentioned in 1080 and is therefore considered one of the oldest Poljica churches. It is single-nave, correctly oriented to the east, with a semicircular apse, built of rubble stone and covered with stone slabs on two slopes, and it has a masonry bell gable. The north wall rests on a substructure of large blocks, and the south one directly on the rock. The nave has a barrel vault, the apse a half-dome. The plastered side walls with niches are decorated with red folk geometric and floral motifs and consecration crosses. Kept inside are a slab with interlace ornament and a small column with an early Christian cross. The church was renovated in 2006.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6283.
