The church of St Lucy is located on the southeastern edge of the historic core of Stari Grad on Hvar, south of the church of St John. It is unusually conceived: it resembles a residential house more than a sacred building.
It came into being through the conversion of part of the Tertiaries' monastery, which was built together with the church around 1500 by the priest Nikola Barbeta. The Turks burned the monastery in 1571. In 1873 the church was thoroughly reworked, acquiring a rectangular shape, wider than it is long, and a four-sided roof, and the titular saint was changed from St Vincent Ferrer to St Lucy. From the older period the lower part of the walls of smaller stone has remained, while the upper extension is of larger stone. On the north façade is a portal with a niche holding a polychrome stone statue of Christ as Imago pietatis, and in the sacristy is a statue of St Lucy; both are of Gothic tradition and probably from the 16th century. The bell gable has one bell.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5634.
