In the village of Grohote on the island of Šolta stands a tower known as Kaštel Slavić. Today it houses the seat of the municipality of Šolta, so the historic building is still in daily use.
It was built in the 17th century and actually consists of two joined towers. The eastern one was built first, three storeys high with a square ground plan, a four-sided roof and a cistern on the ground floor with a barrel vault. Later a taller, four-storey tower with a rectangular ground plan was added to the west. On the top floor it had four bartizans, one each on the north and south sides and two on the west; most of the western ones survived. The ground floor of the western tower also held a cistern, with two rectangular chambers under a barrel vault, which exist to this day. In the 18th century, when the castle no longer had a defensive role, it was used for housing.
The tower is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4770.
