Sali Beaches – Dugi Otok

Sali is located in the southern part of Dugi Otok and is the nearest village to the Telašćica Nature Park. It is precisely the beaches within the park that are the most beautiful in this part of the island. Since Sali is only 2 kilometres to the east, most guests of this small village enjoy the beauty and beaches within the park. The most famous and most beautiful place for swimming is the salt lake Mir. The lake was formed after the last ice age, when the sea level rose by approximately 120 metres, so that through numerous underground cracks the karst depression filled with seawater. The special feature of the lake is the greater salinity of the water and greater temperature amplitudes, so that in summer the water in the lake becomes extremely hot, while in winter it is colder than the open sea.
