The tower in Zaton stands by the sea coast in front of the village of Zaton, in the town of Nin, in Zadar County. For visitors it is interesting as a rare surviving example of defensive architecture of the Venetian period on this part of the coast.
The tower has a ground floor and two upper floors, and is built of roughly dressed stone. Its base is reinforced with a scarp. On the first floor stand a stone plaque and a coat of arms, bearing the name of the owner Bartolazzi and the year 1627. Until then the tower had belonged to the Crissava family. On each level, two loopholes can be seen near the corners, while the top of the tower has collapsed. According to its stylistic features, the building was constructed no later than the second half of the 16th century and is counted among a series of fortifications from the time of Venetian rule.
The tower is a protected cultural good and is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1209.
