At Cape Kremenjača, not far from Zaton in the area of the Town of Nin (Zadar County), beneath the sea lie the remains of the ancient harbour of Nin. It is interesting to divers and lovers of history because it shows how trade was once carried out across the Adriatic, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.
From the cape a breakwater of piled stones about 200 metres long extends into the sea, alongside which the depth varies from 1.5 to 4 metres. Systematic investigations in cultural layers up to a metre thick uncovered the remains of three Liburnian ships (serilia), many glass and ceramic objects and stone architectural elements. The harbour flourished in the 1st and 2nd centuries, and in the 3rd century traffic in it declined.
A protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-733.
