Remains of an Ancient Villa with Landing Place, Sveti Filip i Jakov

On the islet of Frmić, off the coast at Sveti Filip i Jakov in Zadar County, lie the remains of a Roman farming estate and a sunken landing place. The place is interesting to lovers of underwater archaeology.

On the islet the remains of an ancient rustic villa have been identified. Among them a barrel-vaulted piscina stands out. On the west side of the islet lies the sunken remnant of a smaller L-shaped landing place, at a depth of 1 to 7 metres. It is built of rubble stone, around which ballast stones are scattered, and there are also fragments of ancient pottery. The villa and landing place are dated to the late antique period, from the 3rd to the 6th century.

The remains are a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-44.
