Church of St Roch, Bast

The church of St Roch is located in the village of Bast, right beneath the cliffs of Biokovo. Because of its position and simple construction it has a special ambience, suitable for a short stop on the way along the Makarska Riviera.

Although it was later altered, it has retained the features of a rustic medieval Gothic building from the 15th century, as the manner of masonry also shows. In the 18th century it was Baroquised, which is most visible in the remodelled bell gable. The single-nave church has a pointed vault and a semicircular apse. On the west façade is a door, above it a rosette with a flower in the middle, and in the gable a bell gable. In the sanctuary is a modest stone altar.

The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5466.
