Monument to Fra Andrija Kačić Miošić, Makarska

On Kačić Square in Makarska stands the monument to Fra Andrija Kačić Miošić, one of the town's recognisable landmarks. Visitors gladly see it as a memorial to the Franciscan and poet. It is located in Split-Dalmatia County.

The author is the sculptor Ivan Rendić, and the monument was erected in 1889. It depicts a young Franciscan in a habit, in contrapposto, on a stone pedestal. On the south side of the pedestal a carpet-shaped mosaic with heraldic signs is set, and above it a gusle and a book as symbols of the poet's singing. On each side of the plinth an inscription with details from Fra Andrija's life is carved.

The monument is part of memorial heritage and a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5320.
