North of the old part of Makarska, on a gentle rise called Zelenka, lie the remains of a tower from the Ottoman period. Today it stands in a new residential area, on an undeveloped plot, so it is interesting as a reminder of the former fortified harbour. It belongs to the town of Makarska in Split-Dalmatia County.
The tower is small, with a rectangular ground plan, built on natural rock. It is preserved to the height of the ground floor and first floor, without a roof, and is built of roughly dressed stone in mortar. On each level it has a row of loopholes. A ruined entrance can be seen on the west façade, and on the east there is an escape exit through the natural rocks. The original wooden intermediate floor structure has not survived, and neither the height nor the type of roof is known. Because of the views to the east and west it is assumed to have served as an observation post.
The tower is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6119.
