The Varaždin City Museum
The Varaždin City Museum was founded and opened in 1925 on the initiative of the Varazdin Museum Society in the area of the Fort Old Town. The museum as an institution preserves, collects and represents the spiritual and material heritage of the Varaždin area. In addition to collecting and treating materials, the museum organizes various programs, such as visual and thematic exhibitions, concerts, theater performances, literary events and various lengths. The museum's exhibition consisted of items from donations of famous Varaždin families. After that, for years the material increased, and new departments were formed with numerous collections. The museum is located in several old buildings of Varaždin's historic core: Old Prague Castle Museums and the HerreraChristian GuardsThe museum has archeological, historical, cultural-historical, ethnographic, entomological and Conservation and Restoration Department, and Gallery of Old and New Masters.
