Cultural and Historical Ensemble of Šušnjevica

Šušnjevica is a village in the municipality of Kršan in Istria County, beneath Učka. The place is interesting to lovers of traditional building because it preserves the livestock-farming and agricultural structure of the village.

The settlement took shape according to the configuration of the terrain, lengthwise beneath Učka, with additional features of a street settlement. It is presumed that the part above the road is older. There, earlier livestock buildings beside the house were replaced with more developed agricultural structures, but the fundamental livestock-farming and agricultural character can still be seen today. Single-room stone structures of the dvor type predominate, covered with plant material, with a raised gable that protects the roof. The ensemble is dated from the 15th century to the present.

The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-0292-1972.
