Near Josipovac, in the town of Osijek (Osijek-Baranja County), is the archaeological site of Vinogradi, southwest of the settlement at the Čibak site, along the Poganovačko-kravički canal. It is interesting because it shows how ancient and later settlements followed one another in the same space.
It was found during a field survey of the route of Osijek's southern bypass. Trial and rescue excavations revealed the edge of an ancient and a medieval settlement. It is assumed that there was a smaller Roman village, a vicus, from the early empire, in which indigenous people lived. Members of the Pannonian tribe of the Andizetes probably formed a separate tribal civitas, whose territory shrank with the founding of the colony of Mursa and the nearby municipium of Mursella. Pottery and metal date the ancient settlement to the beginning of the empire, the end of the 1st century BC and the beginning of the 1st century AD. The second, partly explored settlement, from the 15th and 16th centuries, is linked to Ottoman campaigns.
A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6946.
