Wreck of the Torpedo Boat TA 45 (Spica), Novi Vinodolski

In the channel between the island of Krk and the mainland, not far from Novi Vinodolski, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, lies the wreck of the sunken torpedo boat TA 45. It is a destination for divers, and is protected as archaeological heritage.

The ship originally bore the name Spica. In the First World War it belonged to the Italian navy as a light cruiser, and before the Second World War it was further refitted. After Italy's capitulation it passed into German hands, received radar and was included in the system of the 11th Security Division in 1944 and 1945. British torpedo boats sank it in April 1945. The wreck now lies at a depth of 51 to 60 metres. Special value is given to it by the armament that remained on the ship: two torpedoes and guns of various calibres.

The wreck is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-15.
