Bribir, in the Vinodol municipality in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, was once a fortified town from which the Vinodol Law of 1288 was signed. The remains of the castle are of interest to anyone following the history of this law code and of the Frankopan estates.
The castle was built in the 13th century on the northern part of the fortified town. It was demolished in 1878 to build the municipal building and a school. Originally it was surrounded by a double wall, with a long and narrow courtyard, a residential and administrative building, and two towers, one round and one square. To this day the square tower has been preserved, on which 1302 is carved, as well as part of the fortifications on the northern and western sides.
The remains are a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2724.
