The silo of the former Union Steam Mill in Osijek is a remnant of an industrial complex that was once on the edge of the town and today is in the inner centre.
The complex was founded in 1891 by a group of leading Osijek landowners and bankers: Pfeifer, Weissmayer, Sorge and Reisner. It consisted of a five-storey steam mill, a silo, farm buildings and an administrative building, several residential ones, and a Secession villa with a garden for the director. The silo as a site is still a visible reminder of the industrial development of Osijek at the end of the 19th century. Of the production buildings two warehouses and the silo have remained, a free-standing six-storey building with a rectangular ground plan, corresponding to the lost steam mill.
The silo is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5896.
