The church of the Holy Cross in Osijek, together with the neighbouring monastery, stands out as an achievement of the Baroque in the Slavonian metropolis. The street façade and the spacious interior attract lovers of Baroque architecture.
The church was built from 1705 to 1732 as a hall building with a rectangular nave and pairs of side chapels. The sanctuary is polygonal and as wide as the nave, supported by buttresses. The nave is covered with a segmental barrel vault with groin vaults. The main façade ends in a gable with a volute outline, and in the middle has a profiled stone portal with a broken pediment. The bell tower was built in 1746, to the north beside the sanctuary. The monastery is located north of the church, inside a late Baroque military palace built from 1770 to 1778.
The church with the monastery is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1698.
