The church of St James with its monastery in Osijek is one of the Baroque complexes of the city on the Drava. It is located in Osijek-Baranja County and is of interest to visitors who want to learn about church architecture from the period of reconstruction after Ottoman rule. It was built from 1700 to 1727.
The church is single-nave, with a square sanctuary with a flat termination and an east façade, attached to the monastery. The monastery has a square courtyard around it. The nave is covered with a barrel vault, and above the sanctuary is a small wooden turret covered with shingles. Because of earlier street regulation, the main façade with the entrance stands set back from the street, and it is connected to the street by a masonry fence with iron grilles and an entrance with two statues of monks. The façade is simple, with a high gable, and the emphasis is a stone portal above which is the family coat of arms of General Petrač, a great donor to the church.
The complex is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1699.
