The former Pauline monastery, today also known as Kaštel, rises in the eastern part of Crikvenica, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Today it houses a hotel, so through a stay one can experience centuries of turbulent history of one of the oldest complexes in the town.
The area was once surrounded by a high wall, the remains of which are still visible, with a large park, the monastery building and a single-nave church, the oldest part of the complex, later Baroquised, with a Gothic-vaulted sanctuary. Nikola Frankopan renovated an older church in 1412 and built a monastery for the Paulines beside it. In 1760 the Vinodol castellany moved to the monastery from Bribir, and with the abolition of the order the building came under state and then municipal authority. After being given to Archduke Joseph in 1893 it was renovated and converted for the sick, then served as a children's home and holiday home. The complex closes around an inner courtyard, with a corner tower and a bell tower. It arose in the 14th and 15th centuries.
The complex is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-345.
