In the northern part of Crikvenica, between Kotorska cesta and the Dubračina stream, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, lies the Igralište site. It is interesting because it shows that today's holiday resort was also a craft production centre in Roman times.
It is an ancient pottery workshop that operated in several phases during the first and second centuries. Investigations ongoing since 2006 have uncovered several well-preserved kilns and a whole building complex linked to the workshop. Fragments of amphorae, roof tiles and household pottery were found, both finished products and semi-finished ones, and the quantity of material is measured in tonnes. For this reason the workshop is important for understanding ancient production in the northern Adriatic, and the so-called Crikvenica type of amphora was identified from it.
The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3417.
