Kotor is an old settlement in the hinterland of Crikvenica, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, today largely abandoned. It is interesting to those who like a landscape in which the old way of using the land is preserved, with fields bounded by dry-stone walls.
The name derives from the ancient fortress of Ad Turres. Ladvići, Šupera and Draga also belong to the wider area. People have lived here since prehistory, and in the Middle Ages the area belonged to the Frankopan Principality of Vinodol. From the 15th century it was governed by the Franciscans of Trsat. The seat of the parish remained here until 1750, when, because of an earthquake and a fire, it was moved to Crikvenica, and Kotor lost its importance and was completely depopulated. The traditional layout of the space, agricultural land with dry-stone boundaries and the 17th- and 18th-century architecture of the Vinodol region have been preserved.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2697.
