The Poreč Regional Museum or Poreč is a museum that inherited two earlier museums: the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Istria, which was founded in 1884, and the City Museum of Art and History, founded in 1926.

Their museum holdings are included in today's museum. Since 1952 this fund has been located in the baroque palace of the Sinčić family. The Museum takes care of several buildings and sites of cultural and historical importance in the city of Poreč and in the wider area of Poreč.

The primary task of the Museum is to collect, preserve and explore the civilizational and cultural assets of Poreč and Poreč. With its professional and scientific work, the museum presents to the public valuable historical moments.

The Poreč Museum has become a city museum, and the Pula museum has been raised to the provincial level. After years of pause, on June 6, 1926, the Poreč City Museum of Art and History was officially opened. Ranieri Mario Cossar has been appointed Director.

The institution operated until the capitulation of Italy, until the date of September 29, 1943, when a fire broke out that destroyed most of the structure.

The museum was reopened in 1952 in the baroque palace Sinčić in Dekumanusova street at number 9. The establishment and operation of the former County Museum of Poreč, and today the Regional Museum of Poreč, is connected with the work of A. Šonja. For three decades, he has systematically collected items that form the bulk of today's museum exhibit.

Heraldic objects, artifacts, parts of sacral or secular architectural objects and stone monuments are on display in the lapidarium in the courtyard of the Museum. On the ground floor of the Sinčić Palace is a lapidarium with ancient stone monuments, representative specimens of the Prehistoric Collection. In the side rooms of the first floor is the Antique Collection, with mostly stone, ceramic, glass and metal objects found in the area of Poreč.

In the museum's collection, two portraits (male and female) and the marble torso of the goddess Diana stand out in their unique plastic design. The portraits date from the 17th and 18th centuries, and are located in the first floor lounge and belong to members of the Carli noble family of Koper.

The large centerpiece is a historical copy of the Last Supper of Palma the Younger, which is originally found in the Diocese. The first floor also features two sets of furniture from the well-known Poreč noble families Vergottini and Polesini.

The first and second floor lounges have dowry chests of wealthy Poreč families, and in style can be traced from the Renaissance to historicism. On the east wall of the parlor, on the second floor, are two other large canvases and a genealogical tree belonging to the Carli family. The second floor features portraits of 19th-century Facchinetti family members. The salon also features late Baroque chairs from the Diocese, of great artistic value. The later room on the same floor houses the late antique and medieval collections, and chronologically shows parts of late antique (early Christian) and medieval church furniture, as well as burial architecture dating from the 4th to 16th centuries. On the same floor is the Memorial Library, housed in authentic library cabinets dating back to the early 20th century. The library holdings were largely collected by donations from three prominent figures, namely the nobles of Gian Stefan Carli and Nicolo de Vergottini, and the canon Pietro Radoicovich.

The rarity books on the museum premises date from 16-19. century. The permanent ethnographic exhibition from the Museum's holdings is housed in a 12th-century Romanesque house on Marafor Square.
